US President Donald Trump has vented his anger on his allies. He said that in the ongoing war with Iran, he appealed to send warships to secure and open the Strait of Hormuz again, but most of the countries refused. Trump said, ‘We don’t need anyone. We are the strongest nation in the world. Our military is the most powerful.
Trump gets upset while warning allies
Trump told that he talked to about 7 countries and asked them to send warships so that oil ships can pass safely, but countries like Germany, Spain, Italy clearly refused. Britain had also initially refused to provide two aircraft carriers, but later offered it after the war ended, which Trump rejected.
Trump said, ‘I am doing this in some cases to see how they react. I have been saying for years that if we ever need him, he will not come. He also targeted NATO and said that if the allies do not help then the future of NATO will be ‘very bad’. Trump expressed surprise at Britain and said that it did not help initially, but offered after the war was over, ‘I said, after the war is over, I don’t need a career.’
What is the status of Hormuz?
The Strait of Hormuz is the world’s most important oil route, through which about 20% of global oil passes. Iran has stopped it after the war started. Iran has attacked more than 15 ships, due to which the movement of oil ships has almost stopped. Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has said that the strait will remain closed. The Iranian military warned that oil prices could reach $200 per barrel.
After all, how long will this war last?
Trump had earlier said that the war would end soon, but not this week. Now he is putting pressure on his colleagues. He said that America alone will escort the ships with its navy. Talks are going on with some countries, but most are ‘less enthusiastic’. Trump said, ‘I don’t make a hard sell on them, because my attitude is, we don’t need anyone.’
It all started on 28 February 2026, when America and Israel together launched a major attack on Iran called ‘Operation Epic Fury’. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and many senior officials were killed in this. Iran responded by launching missile-drone attacks on Israel and American bases, causing the war to spread throughout the Middle East.
