A major terrorist attack took place last night in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, bordering Afghanistan. Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed to have fired six Al-Farooq missiles at around 10:30 pm, targeting the post of Pakistani paramilitary force Frontier Corps located in Malang Madrasa of Mamund tehsil.
According to local sources, Malang post of Frontier Corps was completely destroyed in this attack. According to the information revealed so far, the death of 14 soldiers has been confirmed, while 8 soldiers have been pulled out from the debris. There is also a possibility that the death toll will increase.
Missile fell in residential area also
It is being told that one of the six missiles fired fell on a nearby house, killing two children. Many nearby houses have also been damaged due to the attack. The local administration has surrounded the area and started relief and rescue operations. TTP has claimed that it used “Al-Farooq” missiles of its own design. In its statement, the organization has claimed that 40 soldiers have been killed, although this has not been officially confirmed.
TTP activities increased after August 2021
Since the withdrawal of Taliban from Afghanistan in August 2021, a sharp increase in TTP activities has been seen in Pakistan. Whereas earlier the organization used to target security forces through drone attacks and suicide attacks, now incidents of use of self-made missiles allegedly on military bases are coming to light. Due to this, serious questions are being raised on the internal security system of Pakistan.
TTP took responsibility of the attack
Taking responsibility for this attack, TTP has said that it fired six missiles at the Malang post of Frontier Corps located in Bajaur. The organization has also claimed to have released the video of the attack. At present, an official detailed statement on this incident is awaited from Pakistan. Security agencies are investigating the attack and additional forces have been deployed in the area. Experts believe that this attack reflects the increasing instability in the region and the seriousness of terrorist activities operating from across the border.
