After Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived on a two-day visit to Assam on Saturday. During this, he inaugurated the new terminal building of Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. This is the first terminal which has been designed on the theme of nature. Its theme is based on bamboo garden. On Sunday, PM Modi will inaugurate projects worth Rs 15600 crore in Assam.
In the beginning of his speech, Prime Minister Modi said, ‘Today is a day of celebration of development. This is a celebration of the development not just of Assam but of the entire North East. Therefore, I request you to take out your mobile phone and switch on the flash light and become a participant in this development festival. The light should be on in every mobile phone. With the echo of applause the whole country will see that Assam is celebrating development. When the light of development reaches, the new path of life starts touching heights.
‘A new chapter is being added in the development of Assam’
Addressing the public meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, ‘My attachment to the land of Assam, the love and affection of its people and especially the love of my mothers and sisters of Assam and the North-East continuously inspire me and strengthen our resolve for the development of the North-East. Today once again a new chapter is being added in the development of Assam.
He said, ‘Just as the streams of the huge Brahmaputra never stop in Assam, similarly the stream of development is flowing continuously here under the double engine government of BJP. The inauguration of the new terminal of the popular Gopinath Bordoloi Airport here today is a proof of our resolve. I congratulate all the people of Assam and the countrymen for this new terminal building.
The new terminal building of Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport will boost connectivity, commerce and tourism across Assam and entire Northeast.

New terminal building will increase capacity
PM Modi said, ‘This new terminal building will increase the capacity of Guwahati. More than 1.25 crore tourists will be able to come. Darshan of Maa Kamakhya will become easier. This airport shows what the meaning of development and heritage is. There is greenery inside the terminal. The design is related to nature. This is technology. Bamboo has been used in making it. Which shows beauty. It also shows strength. You gave me work in 2014. Before that there was law in the country. Bamboo cannot be cut. They used to say that bamboo is a tree. Whereas the world believes that bamboo is a plant. We removed the law. Which is truly the identity of bamboo in the category of grass. It was then that such a big building was built from bamboo today. Today, the creations of India’s airports are being discussed all over the world.
