UN Chief Antonio Guterres praised India, said before the AI Summit – ‘The country has power…’

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has described India as a ‘very successful’ emerging economy and said that India is the perfect place to host a global level AI summit. He stressed that the benefits of Artificial Intelligence (AI) should be available to the entire world and not be limited to only a few powerful countries.

Congratulations to India, AI should be for everyone
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in an interview before the ‘India-AI Impact Summit 2026’ that India is completely suitable for this big event. He congratulated India for hosting the summit and said that the development of AI should be such that every country benefits.

‘Global South’ should also benefit from AI
Guterres said it is important that AI does not become the exclusive preserve of developed countries or the two superpowers. He said that the developing countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America, called the ‘Global South’, should also get an equal share in AI technology and its benefits. He clearly said, ‘It is completely wrong that AI should be the right of only the most developed countries.’

The summit will be held from 16 to 20 February
‘India-AI Impact Summit 2026’ will be organized from 16 to 20 February. This will be the first time that an AI summit of this level will be organized in a country in the ‘Global South’. The program will be based on three main ideas – people, earth and progress. Guterres will come to India to participate in this conference.

AI should be in the interest of humanity
The General Secretary said that Artificial Intelligence should become a tool which will be useful to the entire human race. He said that there are immense possibilities in AI, but there are also risks associated with it, hence it is necessary to discuss it openly and in depth.

India’s growing role on the global stage
Guterres said that today India is a strong and fast growing economy. It is playing an important role not only in the global economy but also in international affairs. According to him, organizing this conference in India shows that discussion on a big issue like AI should not be limited to only a few countries, but the entire world should be involved in it.
