On 24 December 2025, the Unnao rape case victim and her mother met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. This meeting took place at Sonia Gandhi’s residence at 10 Janpath Road. Rahul Gandhi met the rape victim a day after returning from a trip to Germany.
Rape victim wandering for justice
The victim has demanded justice from Rahul. The victim said that we just want justice. We will talk to everyone. The rape victim has also sought time to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Delhi High Court had given relief to former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, convicted in a rape case, against which the victim and her mother are protesting. At the same time, Sengar has challenged his conviction and sentence in this case. He will remain out of jail till the court’s decision.
Rahul had tweeted in support of the victim
Rahul Gandhi had also made a social media post in support of the victim. In this post, he had said that it was wrong to remove the victim and the people protesting with her from India Gate. Rahul wrote, ‘Is such behavior with a gangrape victim appropriate? Is it her ‘mistake’ that she is daring to raise her voice for justice? It is extremely disappointing and shameful for his culprit (former BJP MLA) to get bail. Especially when the victim is being tortured again and again, and she is living in fear.
Is such treatment appropriate for a gangrape victim?
Is it her “mistake” that she is daring to raise her voice for justice?
It is extremely disappointing and shameful for her culprit (former BJP MLA) to get bail – especially when the victim is being repeatedly harassed, and is living in fear.

Rahul Gandhi further wrote that rapists should be given bail and victims should be treated like criminals. What kind of justice is this? We are not just a dead economy. With such inhuman incidents, we are also becoming a dead society. In a democracy, raising the voice of dissent is a right and suppressing it is a crime. The victim should get respect, protection and justice, not helplessness, fear and injustice.
