Javon Searles And Three Others Suspended For Match Fixing: A big case of match fixing has come to light in West Indies cricket. This issue of match fixing is much discussed after the T-20 World Cup. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended three people, including West Indies player Javon Sears, on serious allegations of corruption during the Bim10 League 2023/24 held in Barbados. ICC has once again foiled the attempt to ruin a global game like cricket.
Accused of match fixing and tampering with evidence
The ICC has accused West Indies player Javon Sears, team official Trayvon Griffith and Titans team owner Chittaranjan Rathod of match fixing. All three are accused of trying to unfairly influence the results of the Bim10 tournament and sporting events. Apart from this, he has also been accused of inciting other players to commit corruption and not cooperating in the investigation of anti-corruption officials.
ICC’s strict rules imposed on Sears and Griffith
Titans team official Trayvon Griffith of the Bim10 tournament held in Barbados has been accused of violating the CWI code as well as the ICC’s International Anti-Corruption Code. Griffith is accused of trying to hide important information related to the investigation or tamper with the evidence so as to suppress the evidence of corruption. Both Javon Sears and Griffith are also accused of not disclosing the match-fixing offers or invitations that were given to them for fixing.
Reply sought within 14 days with immediate suspension
Taking a strict stance, the ICC has suspended Sears, Griffith and Rathore from all cricket activities with immediate effect. These three have 14 days time from March 11, 2026, within which they will have to present their reply on these serious allegations. This action is part of a larger investigation, under which American player Aaron Jones was also implicated in January.
