What did Iran claim?
According to IRNA news agency, Iran’s military had claimed that an enemy F-15 fighter plane was infiltrating Iran’s southern coast, near the Strait of Hormuz. The plane was shot down by surface-to-air missiles fired by the Army’s Air Defense Force.
A video was also shared by the Iranian News Agency to confirm this claim. However, the US Central Command Centcom rejected this claim and called it just a rumour.
Iran has already claimed to target US fighter jets
Iran has earlier also claimed to have shot down fighter planes during the ongoing conflict and war with Israel and America. Iran claimed to have shot down an F-16 fighter plane of the Israeli Air Force on Saturday (March 21, 2026). Iran also released a video to confirm its claim.
After Iran’s claim, Israel responded by saying that during the operation conducted in Iran, the fighter jet was hit by a surface-to-air missile. However, the Israeli side clearly denied any damage during this incident.
Apart from this, Iran had also claimed to target an American F-35 fighter jet. A video of this was also shared by Iran, after which there was an emergency landing of F-35 at an airbase in the Middle East, which was discussed all over the world because America has been claiming that its F-35 fighter jets cannot be detected by any radar in the world. There was a stir after this claim of Iran.
