US launched ‘Operation Hawkeye Strike’ in Syria, carried out major attack on 70 IS targets

America has carried out a major military attack targeting Islamic State (IS) fighters and their weapons bases in Syria. The US administration shared information in this regard on Friday (December 19, 2025). This action has been taken a few days after the deadly attack in which two American soldiers and an American civilian interpreter were killed.

According to the Associated Press, regarding this military action, a US official said that as part of a large-scale operation, the army targeted about 70 infrastructure and weapons bases belonging to IS in central Syria. He said that there is a possibility of such attacks being carried out in future also.

This operation of the US Army has been named Hawkeye Strike. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said on social media platform

He said, “Today we hunted our enemies and killed many of them and we will continue to do so.”

What is US Army’s Operation Hawkeye Strike?

Operation Hawkeye Strike is a US military operation launched in response to the attack on the city of Palmyra in central Syria last Saturday (December 13, 2025). Two American soldiers and a civilian interpreter were killed in this attack. The attackers attacked a convoy of American and Syrian security forces, after which they were retaliated and killed. At the same time, three other American soldiers were also injured in this attack.

The operation was carried out in retaliation for the brutal murder of American patriots – Trump

The American personnel targeted by IS fighters were supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, an international campaign against the Islamic State. Regarding Operation Hawkeye Strike, US President Donald Trump said that this retaliatory action has been taken as revenge for the brutal killing of brave American patriots by ISIS in Syria.
