Officials said that about 2,500 Marine soldiers will be part of this mission. These soldiers also work in missions like security of embassies, evacuation of civilians and humanitarian aid.
The American Marine unit and USS Tripoli (LHA-7) are currently deployed in Japan and were recently in the Pacific Ocean. According to officials, it may take more than a week for these ships to reach the sea area around Iran.
