Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday (January 7, 2026) launched a scathing attack on Western countries commenting on India’s retaliatory military action Operation Sindoor after Pakistan’s terrorist attack, terming it as Western hypocrisy. He said that today in the world, some western countries take action only where their self-interest is involved, but they do not shy away from giving free advice to India.
Referring to the international reactions during Operation Sindoor, Jaishankar said that western countries expressed concern about the tension in the area, but he questioned their thinking. He said that such countries should first look at the violence happening in their areas and understand how much India is concerned about their activities. He said that people often say one thing and do another.
India should move forward without coming under any pressure – Jaishankar
Foreign Minister in Luxembourg S. Jaishankar stressed, ‘Western countries usually give priority to their own interests or selfishness, but despite this they keep giving free advice to India without asking. India should accept this reality and move ahead with its policies without being influenced by external pressure or comments.

Attacking the narrative of Western countries, the External Affairs Minister said, ‘Why don’t you look at your own region and ask yourself what is the level of violence there, how many risks have been taken and how concerned are we about what you are doing?’
Jaishankar reacted after American operation in Venezuela
Foreign Minister S. This strong reaction of Jaishankar has come after the military operation conducted by America in Venezuela under the leadership of President Donald Trump and the arrest of its President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores from the capital Caracas and taking them to New York.
