Vishva Hindu Parishad’s resolution on Vasant Panchami, said – Vagdevi temple will be built in Dhar’s Bhojshala on the lines of Ayodhya.

International President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Alok Kumar on Friday announced the resolution that on the lines of the construction of a grand temple at the birthplace of Lord Ram in Ayodhya, a Vagdevi (Goddess Saraswati) temple will be built in the Bhojshala complex of Dhar by the year 2034 through a legal process. The Hindu community considers Bhojshala to be the temple of Vagdevi, while the Muslim side calls this 11th century monument the Kamal Maula Masjid. This disputed complex is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and a case is pending in the court regarding this site.

The iconic statue is currently in a museum in London: Kumar Vasant

Kumar said in a big meeting before the darshan of Vagdevi at Bhojshala on Vasant Panchami that the already consecrated idol of Vagdevi at this place is currently in a museum in London. He said, ‘We have to bring this statue back to India. We have to win the case pending in the court and restore the form of this temple as per the reputation of Goddess Saraswati.

The VHP leader claimed that the temple of Vagdevi in Bhojshala was built in 1034, hence 992 years have passed since the construction and the consecration of the idol of Vagdevi in it and 1,000 years will be completed in 2034. He said, ‘Should we and you resolve that we will complete the court process, bring back the idol of Vagdevi from there (London) and like the Ram temple is built in Ayodhya, in 2034, we will consecrate the idol of Vagdevi here (Bhojshala) with the same grandeur.’

VHP claims, there was Gurukul along with the temple

Kumar claimed that along with the temple in Bhojshala, there was also a Gurukul where a large number of students used to study Vedas, Puranas and Shastras. He said, ‘…Therefore, if a temple is built here (Bhojshala) again, then Dhar located in the center of the country will become a city of learning, knowledge and studies.’

In the meeting, sages and saints described the disputed complex of Dhar as a religious place for Hindus and demanded from the government that the idol of Vagdevi kept in the London Museum should be brought back to India, it should be installed in the complex and ‘Vagdevi Corridor’ should be built in Dhar on the lines of ‘Shri Mahakal Lok Corridor’ of Ujjain.
