Ads in Android: Nowadays advertisements are not limited to just giving information. Many times these are shown so excessively and forcefully that the fun of using the mobile gets spoiled. Although with the help of Ads we also get to know about new products and services but the problem increases more in Android phones. The reason is that there are many free apps and games, which repeatedly show full-screen ads and do not even allow the back button to work. If you too are troubled by ads as soon as you open every app, then there are some effective ways to stop them in Android phones and tablets.
Block ads at system level with private DNS
The easiest way to block ads in Android is to set up Private DNS. This feature came with Android 9 Pie and does not require any third-party app. The names of the settings may change slightly in different phone brands but the method remains almost the same.
For this, open your phone’s Settings and type DNS in the search. Now choose the option of Private DNS or Specified DNS. Here, write dns.adguard.com in Private DNS provider hostname and save it.
Once this setting is turned on, most ads and pop-ups stop automatically. Keep in mind, sometimes this DNS can block some websites, in such a case you can turn it off temporarily. If AdGuard DNS doesn’t work for you, there are many other alternatives.
Full control over ads with AdAway and Blokada apps
AdAway has long been a trusted name for users who want a little advanced control. Earlier it used to work only on rooted phones but now its non-root mode is also available.
In rooted phones, it blocks websites serving ads through the system’s host file, whereas in non-root mode, it blocks ads in apps and browsers by creating a local VPN. AdAway is completely free and open-source and can be downloaded from GitHub.
If you want another option then Blokada is also a good choice. It not only blocks ads but in many cases also encrypts DNS queries. With this, the user can decide for himself which website is to be blocked and which is not.
Relief from ads, double the fun of using phone
By using the right settings and the right tools, you can get rid of ads to a great extent in Android phones and tablets. This not only makes the phone run smoothly but also saves battery and data. If you want your mobile to work without interruption then definitely adopt these methods.
