‘We lost our brave soldiers, will always remember…’, PM Modi expressed grief over Doda incident

On Thursday (January 22, 2026), an army vehicle slipped off the road and fell into a deep ditch in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, killing 10 soldiers and injuring 11 others. Expressing grief over this accident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that we have lost our brave soldiers. The PM wished for the speedy recovery of the injured soldiers.

How did the accident happen?

Officials said that the accident occurred near Khanni Top, located at an altitude of about 9,000 feet on the Bhaderwah-Chamba route, when the driver of the army’s bulletproof vehicle lost control and the vehicle fell into a 200 feet deep gorge. According to officials, the soldiers in the vehicle were going towards a post located at a higher altitude.

Home Minister Amit Shah expressed grief

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that he is deeply hurt by this accident and expresses deep condolences to the families of the soldiers who lost their lives in it. Posting on X, he wrote, ‘I am deeply saddened by the road accident in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. I express my condolences to the families of our brave soldiers who have lost their lives in this accident. High level medical facilities are being provided to the injured soldiers. I pray to God that all these soldiers get well as soon as possible.

Army vehicle badly damaged

The officer said that after the accident, the army and police immediately started a joint rescue operation, although by then four soldiers had lost their lives and 11 others were found injured. At the same time, the army vehicle was badly damaged. According to officials, six more soldiers died of injuries later during the rescue operation. (with input agency)
