Amit Shah’s Press Conference: Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a press conference in Kolkata. During this, he welcomed everyone and said that this day is a day of pride for all Indians. He reminded that on this day in 1943, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose had hoisted the Indian tricolor in Port Blair.
Amit Shah further said that assembly elections are going to be held in West Bengal in April. Taking a dig at the last 15 years of TMC rule, he said that during this period, fear, corruption and misgovernance reigned in Bengal, due to which the people are feeling scared and terrorized.

He said that the time from now to April is very important for Bengal and the people are ready to form a fear-free and misgovernance-free government. Amit Shah also assured that if BJP government is formed in Bengal under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, then the Ganga of development will start flowing here. Amit Shah said that to stop infiltration in Bengal, special grids will be made and infiltrators will be selectively expelled.
Amit Shah said that renaissance will begin if the BJP government is formed after April 15, 2026. He said that Bengal matters a lot to BJP and in the 2026 assembly elections, BJP will form the government with two-thirds majority.
Mentioned about electoral success and strong base
Amit Shah also mentioned the previous elections of BJP. It got 17 percent votes and 2 seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, 10 percent votes and 3 seats in the 2017 Assembly elections, and got the position of main opposition in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and 2021 Assembly elections. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP got 39 percent votes and 12 seats.
Comment on infiltration and national security
Amit Shah accused Mamata government of failure to stop infiltration. He said that stopping infiltration has now become a matter of national security and only BJP can stop it.
Raised the issue of corruption and women’s safety
He made serious allegations of corruption against Mamata government. Said that crores of rupees are being embezzled from the offices of ministers and leaders and there is no accountability. Describing women’s safety as a big issue, Amit Shah said that mothers, sisters and daughters are fed up with insecurity.
Concern expressed over Bengal’s economy and plans
Amit Shah said that Bengal’s GDP contribution has fallen from third place to 22nd place and all the schemes have come to a standstill due to corruption, infiltration and tolling. He accused the Mamata government of ignoring the interests of the public and said that now the departure of the Mamata government has been decided.
Serious allegations made against TMC government
BJP President Amit Shah said that there is syndicate rule in Bengal and the environment here is full of hostility. He said that under Mamata Banerjee’s rule, one has to pay a share in the earnings and there is arbitrariness in the appointment of DGP.
Amit Shah alleged that BJP workers are being murdered in Bengal, schemes are stalled due to corruption, infiltration and tolling. He said that injustice is being done to the poor because the poor across the country are getting free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh, but this facility is not being provided in Bengal.
He said that the politics of violence and vengeance will now end in Bengal. So far 300 BJP workers have been killed and more than 3000 workers are forced to live a displaced life. Amit Shah also said that TMC rule has been anti-centre.
