After the meeting with the party leaders of Punjab, Congress General Secretary (Organization) and MP KC Venugopal presented his views before the media. He said that we have given very clear instructions today. Everyone unanimously agreed to the leadership’s decision. When asked about the possibility of change in leadership in Punjab, he said that there is no question of change in leadership as of now.

Congress held a meeting with party leaders of Punjab today. During this, Congress Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal said that many leaders including Kharge and Rahul Gandhi were present in the meeting. The meeting lasted for about 3 hours. During this, Rahul Gandhi and Kharge also listened to the opinions of all the leaders.
Instructed not to make public statements
Venugopal told that the leaders gave their respective opinions about the future. Also said that the party has instructed everyone not to make any kind of public statement. No statement will be accepted on media and social media. Whatever statement has to be given, give it on the party form.
He said that the party high command will decide everything about the candidate and the campaign programme. There has been no talk of change in leadership. We are committed to all communities, especially we have always given representation to Dalits, OBCs and STs. Yesterday also the entire Congress was together, today also we are together, we will win Punjab very comfortably.
What is the whole matter?
Actually, former Chief Minister of Punjab Charanjit Singh Channi had issued a statement. In this he had exposed the internal strife in the party. In the viral video, he was talking about the representation of Dalits in the party. However, while clarifying this, he said that he has not spoken against any particular caste or community. He has become a victim of wrong propaganda on social media.
Speaking in a meeting of the party’s scheduled caste wing on Saturday, January 18, Channi had said that if you believe that in Punjab, 35 to 38 percent of the population is Dalits, then why are we not getting representation. On this issue, Rahul Gandhi has also reprimanded the leaders of Punjab in the meeting today.
