West Bengal: Cold will increase again in these districts of Bengal, mercury will fall by 2 to 4 degrees, alert of dense fog

West Bengal News: The cold is going to intensify once again in West Bengal. According to the Alipore Meteorological Department, a continuous decline in the minimum night temperature is being recorded in the state. Along with this, the maximum temperature of the day will also remain much below normal. Severe cold is being felt across Bengal since Monday and there is no possibility of relief for at least a week.

Possible drop in temperature by 2 to 4 degrees

The Meteorological Department says that in the next three to four days the temperature in many districts of the state may fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. In the districts of South Bengal, the day temperature may remain 2 to 4 degrees below normal. Due to cold winds, the effect of cold will be felt more in the morning and night.

There is a possibility of dense fog today in three districts of North Bengal including Darjeeling. Visibility may drop to 50 meters in many areas. At the same time, an alert of dense fog has been issued in two districts of South Bengal. Dense fog may occur in some parts of Birbhum and West Bardhaman in the morning, due to which drivers have been advised to exercise special caution.

Forecast of rain and snowfall in North Bengal

According to the Meteorological Department, there may be rain in Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Jalpaiguri districts of North Bengal. There is also a possibility of snowfall in the higher reaches of Darjeeling. Snowfall may occur in areas like Sandakphu, Ghoom, Dhotre and Chatakpur, which will further increase the cold.

According to weather experts, at present a western disturbance is active in Pakistan and surrounding Jammu-Kashmir and north-western hilly areas. Apart from this, a cyclonic wind area is also formed over eastern Bangladesh. Due to both these systems, cold winds are reaching Bengal, due to which the temperature is falling.

Effect of cold will increase in South Bengal

The feeling of cold had started increasing in the districts of South Bengal since Sunday. Severe cold was felt on Monday morning. The weather department estimates that the cold will increase further from Tuesday. Especially in western districts like Birbhum, Jhargram, West Bardhaman and West Medinipur, severe cold will remain for the next few days.

The Meteorological Department has advised people to wear warm clothes and take special precautions in the morning and evening to protect themselves from cold. Due to dense fog, drivers have been asked to drive slowly and use fog lights. Overall, the next few days are going to be full of cold and fog in West Bengal.
