West Bengal Election 2026: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also be present when Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shubhendu Adhikari files nomination papers from Bhawanipur Assembly seat in Kolkata and will accompany him during the road show in the area on Thursday. Party leaders gave this information.

Shah will be present along with the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly during the show of strength in the political stronghold of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

According to BJP leaders, Shah and Adhikari will start the ‘road show’ from Hazra Crossing in the afternoon. State unit president of the party, Samik Bhattacharya will also be with him.

The road show will pass through different parts of Bhawanipur and will end at the ‘Survey Building’ where officials will file their nomination papers.

Party sources said the convoy will stop about 200 meters before the ‘Survey Building’ and Shah will walk with the officer to the office where BJP leaders will submit their nomination papers.

BJP leaders said that the purpose of Shah’s presence during the filing of nomination is to underline how much importance the party is giving to the Bhawanipur contest.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also likely to campaign in Bhawanipur later. Shah reached Kolkata sometime after midnight.
