West Bengal News: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has again taken strict action in the old case of irregularities in the voter list in West Bengal. The Election Commission has ordered an FIR against four officers and one employee on charges of irregularities in the voter list. District Magistrates of East Medinipur and South 24 Parganas have been instructed to file this FIR. FIR has been ordered against 4 officers and 1 employee of Moyna and Baruipur East assembly constituencies.
What was decided?
There was an uproar a few months ago regarding the new instructions of the Election Commission. Where the then Chief Secretary was called to the Election Commission of Delhi and of course the ERO and AERO of Baruipur East in South 24 Parganas and Moyna in East Medinipur and was a data entry operator. Instructions were given to the state to lodge an FIR directly against him, but later it was seen that when the Chief Secretary went to Delhi, after returning from Delhi, he was suspended, but an FIR was not lodged against him and definitely questions were being raised.
Why has no state filed an FIR against him till now? In such a situation, now there is a new instruction of the Election Commission that only the District Election Officers will have to file FIR. Now the Election Commission has reminded that they will not depend on the state in any way. It will not depend on the Chief Secretary of the state whether to file an FIR or not, now the Election Commission has expressed its power.
Why was it asked to lodge an FIR?
Why was it asked to lodge an FIR? Because fake voters were included in this list, such information was with the Election Commission and the Election Commission has definitely said that through AI they had come to know that ERO-AERO and data entry operators have added fake voters in the voter list, such was the allegation. There were formal allegations against him, that is why instructions were given to file an FIR against him. Instructions were given to suspend. But although he was suspended, it was later found that no FIR was lodged. Now the Election Commission has directly given power to the District Election Officers to definitely file an FIR against them.
