West Bengal: Uproar in Kolkata’s JNM Hospital, doctors start strike after fight

West Bengal News: A big controversy has arisen in JNM Hospital located in Kalyani, Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, over allegations of negligence in treatment and assault. After this entire incident, there was an uproar in the hospital and the interns and house staff started an indefinite strike. The doctors have expressed their protest regarding their 8-point demands, which include strict legal action against the attackers and strengthening of security arrangements in the hospital.

It is being told that a person was brought to the hospital after suffering a head injury on Monday night. Family members alleged that he did not get proper treatment in the emergency department and attempts were made to send him somewhere else without proper care. Meanwhile, the family members were making videos during the treatment, on which the junior doctors objected. It is alleged that after this the dispute between the doctors and the patient’s family increased and an incident of fighting came to light.

Doctors accused of beating and negligence

The patient’s family has accused the doctors of beating and negligence, while the doctors say that it was the family members who first misbehaved and beat them. There was a scuffle between the two sides in this clash, in which at least three people were injured. After the incident, news of vandalism in the hospital has also come to light.

The police have registered a case based on the complaints from both the parties and so far two people have been arrested. In view of the situation, security has been increased in the hospital premises and a demand is being made for deployment of police in the ward and emergency. Interns and house staff have started an indefinite strike from Tuesday morning in protest against the incident, due to which the health services of the hospital are being affected.

However, the hospital administration says that efforts are being made to maintain treatment arrangements with the help of senior doctors. At present the injured patient is admitted in the ICU and his condition is being monitored.
