West Bengal News: A sensational case has come to light in Senpur, Krishnanagar, West Bengal, in which it is alleged that five members of a family, including a son and a daughter, sold their mother’s cornea (the transparent part of the eye). According to local sources, Rabia Bibi died due to old age on Sunday afternoon.

Sources said that when relatives gathered at his house in the evening, some doctors and people from voluntary organizations were also present. It is alleged that after this the family of the deceased threw everyone out of the house and took out the eyes of the old woman. Villager Farman Ali Mandal says, “His three sons entered the house with their mother. They closed the door and after taking everyone out, they gouged out the eye.”

Local people entered the house and protested

As soon as the information about the incident was received, the local people entered the house and protested. Police of Kotwali police station reached the spot and detained five people including the son and daughter of the deceased. According to police sources, the family of the deceased did not submit any documents regarding cornea donation, after which they were arrested.

After the arrest, the police said that the family of the deceased has submitted the documents related to cornea donation. However, the police is now investigating whether these documents are genuine or fake. Aamir Chand Shaikh, son of the deceased, claims that he has been framed and it is a complete conspiracy.

Three days jail custody order

Additional Superintendent of Police Sambhav Jain said, “Under the Kotwali police station, the police received a complaint that Aamir Chand Shaikh stole his mother’s eyes and sold them. The police is investigating the contract shown by him. Those documents have been given after the arrest.”

Local sources claim that the deceased’s son Aamir Chand Shaikh is a social worker. The Krishnanagar district court ordered three days of jail custody for the five people arrested on Monday.
