Abhishek Sharma, who has been playing with Shubman Gill since the age of twelve, knows that after recovering from poor form, he will win T20 World matches for India and will also perform brilliantly in the T20 World Cup next year.
Questions were raised over Gill’s selection in India’s T20 XI as in-form Sanju Samson was left out. Gill has been able to score only 291 runs in 15 innings at a strike rate of 137.3. In the third T20 against South Africa here, he scored 28 runs in 28 balls.
When asked about the poor form of Gill and captain Suryakumar Yadav, Abhishek said, “I want to make one thing clear that you have faith, these two players will win matches for India in the World Cup and also in this series.”
About his childhood friend Gill, he said, “I have been playing with him for so long, especially Shubman, so I know that he can score runs against any team and in any conditions.”
He said, “I have a lot of confidence in him from the beginning and soon everyone will know and everyone will trust in the same way.” Abhishek, who gave India a lead of 2.1 by scoring 35 runs in 18 balls in the third match, said that he batted keeping the December weather in mind.
He said, “You have to keep in mind whether the ball is swinging or taking a seam. I played some shots which can be played only on such wickets.
