Controversy over the book ‘Four Stars of Destiny’ is increasing. Ever since Rahul Gandhi mentioned this book in Parliament, many big statements have come out. The book’s publisher, Penguin Publications, had recently issued a statement clarifying that the book has not been published yet. After this, the statement of the book’s author, former Army Chief MM Naravane, has also come to light.
Naravane retweeted Penguin’s post
MM Naravane has posted on his social media account Posting Penguin Publications’ tweet, he wrote, ‘This is the current status of the book.’ However, Naravane did not say anything more on this matter and the book. This is Naravane’s first reaction.
This is the status of the book.

Penguin gave clarification before Naravane
Earlier, Penguin Publication had also given clarification by tweeting. Penguin had said that an announced book, a pre-ordered book and a published book are three different things. If a copy is circulating somewhere, it is copyright infringement. The company will take legal action against such copies. Penguin had earlier also given a statement on Monday (9 February 2026) that the book has not gone into the process of publication. Today’s clarification has come in response to Rahul Gandhi’s questions.
Penguin Random House India has said that the company holds the sole publishing rights for the book ‘Four Stars of Destiny’. The book has not been published yet. Pre-order listing or announcement of this book does not constitute publication. Pre-order is a common process in which people can order in advance, but the book is not published until it is available for sale in stores or on online platforms.
What is the full story of the controversy?
The controversy started in the Lok Sabha when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi showed a hardcopy of the book in the Parliament premises and said that there are some things in the former Army Chief’s book which are inconvenient for the government. Rahul Gandhi claimed that the book is available and it contains sensitive topics like Galwan Valley dispute. He cited an old tweet by General Naravane from 2023, in which it was written that his book was ‘now available’ and gave a link to buy.
Rahul Gandhi had questioned the publisher Penguin that if the book was not published then how was it available. He said that either General Naravane is lying or Penguin. Rahul further said, ‘I think General Naravane will not lie.’
