Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has been killed in US-Israeli attacks. Meanwhile, Iran has also announced the name of its new Commander-in-Chief. Ahmed Wahidi has been given the new responsibility of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). On 31 December 2025, Wahidi was appointed Deputy Commander-in-Chief.

Wahidi was the first commander of the Quds Force from 1988-1998. This is the branch of IRGC which is considered responsible for military and intelligence operations outside Iran. Apart from this, Vahidi has also been the Defense Minister from 2009-2013. He was also a member of the Expediency Discrimination Council and Chairman of the Supreme National Defense University.

Let us tell you that due to his alleged involvement in the bomb blast at the Jewish Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1994, Vahidi is on the Red Notice list of Interpol. 85 people were killed in this bomb blast. America and European Union have imposed many sanctions on Wahidi. The reason for the ban is believed to be their links to Iran’s nuclear program and their major role in human rights violations in the 2022 protests.

When and where was Ahmed Wahidi born?
Ahmed Vahidi was born on 27 June 1958 in Shiraz, Iran. Wahidi is a graduate in Electronics Engineering, Master in Industrial Engineering and PhD in Strategic Studies. Vahidi is considered the mastermind of Iran’s military strategy.

Ali Khamenei’s family members have also died in Israeli and American attacks. Reports have claimed that Khamenei has also lost his son-in-law and daughter-in-law in the attacks. Journalists’ Club Tehran City Council member Meisam Muzaffar has claimed that the son-in-law and daughter of Iran’s supreme leader have also been killed.
