Who was going to get the last over of the semi-final? Shivam Dubey revealed a big secret

In the second semi-final of the 2026 T20 World Cup, India had scored 253 runs while batting first. Despite this, Team India’s victory was not certain because England’s batsmen had also entered the field with strong intentions. Jacob Batchelor scored 105 runs, but it was Jasprit Bumrah who bowled 2 overs at very important moments and turned the match towards Team India. Meanwhile, Shivam Dubey had bowled the last over. But was it already decided that Dubey would be the one to bowl the last over?

England had to score 30 runs in the last over to win. Jacob Bethel, who scored a century in 45 balls, was still at the crease, so scoring 30 runs in an over could not be said to be impossible. Shivam Dubey got the responsibility of the last over. The good thing was that he ensured India’s victory by dismissing Jacob Bethel on the very first ball. It was a different matter that Joffra Archer hit 3 sixes in Shivam Dubey’s over.

Who was going to bowl the last over?

In a video shared by BCCI, Shivam Dubey said, “I knew that the first two balls of the over would be the most important because if two balls went right, the match would have been in our lap. It was already decided that the last over was going to be my part. I was feeling nervous. It is always challenging to bowl the last over in the semi-finals of the World Cup.”

Dubey further said, “Bethel had completed his century, so I knew that the last over would not be easy. I maintained confidence in myself and believed in my abilities.” Let us tell you that Shivam Dubey also played a valuable inning of 43 runs in 25 balls in this semi-final match.
