What did Nirmala Sitharaman say on the statement of US Agriculture Minister?

After the announcement of India-US trade deal, the statement of US Agriculture Minister Brook Rollins increased concern in India. He claimed that this trade deal is expected to boost the export of American agricultural products to the Indian market. Describing this deal as beneficial for American farmers, he said, it will increase the access of US agricultural products to the big market of India and it will help in reducing the US agricultural trade deficit with India of 1.3 billion dollars.

On this, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, ‘The final signing regarding the trade has not been done yet, when it happens, it will be known properly. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal made it clear that the interests of agriculture and dairy sector will be protected. Our minister made this statement clear in the Parliament. The rest will happen after the final agreement.

US President Donald Trump posted on Social Truth and said, India will zero tariff and non-tariff barriers on American goods. India has agreed to purchase American energy, technology, agriculture and coal worth more than $500 billion. Regarding this, the Finance Minister was asked that if India is opening the market to the US, then what will happen to Make in India?

On this the Finance Minister said, ‘We will protect our interests and PM Modi will leave no stone unturned in this. The citizens of entire India trust it.
