Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is on a state visit to India from 18 to 22 February 2026. After participating in the AI Impact Summit 2026, he will hold bilateral talks with the Indian leadership. Tomorrow i.e. Saturday (21 February 2026) Silva will pay a courtesy call on the Foreign Minister at Hotel Taj Palace at 08:45 am.
A formal welcome ceremony for Lula da Silva will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan at 10:00 am. After that at 10:45 am the President of Brazil will pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. There will be bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi again at 11:05 am in Hyderabad House. After the conversation with the PM, a joint press conference will be held at 2:30 pm. There will be a meeting with President Draupadi Murmu at 7 pm at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Silva will leave for Brazil from Delhi on 22 February.

Diplomatic relations between India and Brazil were established in 1948.
In 2006, relations received the status of strategic partnership.
Shared democratic values, inclusive development and global cooperation are the cornerstone of these relations.
Both countries cooperate closely on forums like BRICS, IBSA, G20, G-4, ISA, GBA, UN, WTO, UNESCO and WIPO.
During the Prime Minister’s visit to Brazil in July 2025, a review mechanism was set at the level of trade ministers and a trade target of $20 billion by 2030.
