Companies like Reliance Jio and Airtel have started Caller Name Presentation (CNAP) service in many parts of the country. This feature also shows the name of the caller calling from unknown numbers, making it easier to identify the caller even before picking up the phone. Till now, for this feature one had to depend on third-party apps like Truecaller, but now after the orders of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), telecom companies have started showing the caller name.
Name with ID will appear on the screen
The name visible on the caller screen will be the same as the user mentioned in his ID while purchasing the mobile number. This will be a default feature and if a user does not want to use it then he will have to deactivate it. Let us tell you that telecom companies have conducted trials regarding this service in Mumbai and Haryana last year. This step of TRAI and Department of Telecommunications is expected to curb fraud calls. Now even before the user picks up the call, he will know whether someone he knows is calling or an unknown person is trying to contact him. In this way people will not fall into the trap of hackers and scammers and will be safe from cyber crimes.
Service has just started at these places
According to media reports, Reliance Jio has started this service in many states including Haryana, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Kerala, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha. Similarly, Airtel has started this service in Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and West Bengal. Vodafone Idea has started it in some areas of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Talking about government company BSNL, it is currently testing it in West Bengal.
