The first week of the new year itself has indicated that people will have to empty their pockets to buy a phone in 2026. Realme, Oppo and Redmi have launched their phones in the last few days and they have come with increased prices, which shows that only the prices of premium segment phones will not increase. Now mid-range and upper mid-range phones are also being launched at higher prices than before.
Redmi Note price increased
Redmi Note series is known for its aggressive pricing, in which customers get strong features for less money. The base variant (8GB RAM + 128GB) of the recently launched Redmi Note 15 5G is priced at Rs 22,999, while the starting price of Redmi Note 14 5G was Rs 18,999.
Oppo Reno 15 Pro
Oppo Reno 15 Pro has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 67,999. If we compare it with Reno 14 Pro, its launching price last year was Rs 49,999. For this reason, Renault’s Pro models have now reached flagship pricing.
Galaxy S26 series will also be expensive
It is not only Chinese brands that are increasing the prices of their smartphones. If reports are to be believed, it comes to light that Samsung may also increase the price of the Galaxy S26 series to be launched next month. The Galaxy S25 series already comes with premium pricing and now even a small addition to it will take the price of the new lineup even higher.
Why are phones becoming expensive?
It was already being feared that the prices of mobiles, smart TVs and laptops would increase in 2026. Actually, due to shortage of memory chips their prices have increased. Apart from this, companies are now having to spend more money for chipsets and advanced displays and camera sensors, due to which the cost of making phones has increased and its direct impact is on the customers.
