The names of 91 people from Akbar Nagar in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, were removed from the draft list during the Special Intensive Review (SIR). These people had approached the Supreme Court, but they were disappointed. The Supreme Court did not hear the petition of 91 people who did not find a place in the SIR list. These people said that after the action taken against illegal construction in Akbar Nagar, Lucknow, they are not living at that address. For this reason their names have been removed.
The judges said on this issue that this is not a matter which should be heard directly by the Supreme Court. The court said that the facts of the case can be investigated by the local BLO. The court has asked the petitioners to present their views before the District Election Officer.

According to the PTI report, data shared by the chief electoral officers of Gujarat, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Goa and Kerala showed that these states together had more than 21.45 crore voters before the SIR process began on October 27 last year. After the final voters were published this week, the number of voters reduced by 1.70 crore to 19.75 crore. Currently this process is going on in 12 states and union territories, covering approximately 60 crore voters.
