Captain Virendra Sejwal’s statement from his lawyer has come out in the case of the fight between a passenger and the captain that took place on Friday (December 19, 2025) at Terminal-1 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.
According to the statement, Captain Virendra Sejwal was traveling as a common passenger at that time. He was not on any flight duty and the incident had nothing to do with his profession or job. This was purely a personal matter between two passengers, which was presented in a false colour.
Captain Sejwal gave information regarding the matter
According to Captain Sejwal, the things spread on social media were based on one-sided and incomplete truth. The allegation is that the other side created a wrong story by selectively presenting facts and unnecessarily sensationalized it. The statement also said that during this period caste based comments were made against Captain Sejwal and serious threats were made against the female members of his family and even a child.
It was told that the dispute started with unprovoked abuse from another passenger. Despite being stopped several times, he continued using abusive and threatening language. As the matter escalated, a scuffle broke out, in which Captain Sejwal also got injured. The CISF personnel present at the spot immediately intervened and tried to control the situation, but the other passenger did not calm down even in front of them.
Dispute resolved in presence of CISF officers
Ultimately this matter was resolved there in the presence of CISF officers. Both parties voluntarily signed written statements saying that they did not want to take any kind of legal action. It has been made clear in the statement that there was no pressure or coercion in this. CISF has also clarified on social media platform X that both the parties were given the option to lodge a complaint, but they themselves refused.
People should avoid spreading one-sided or misleading information – Captain Sejwal
It has also been said on behalf of Captain Sejwal that it is completely wrong to link this personal incident with his profession. Doing this seems to be just an attempt to draw attention on social media, whereas the matter has already been resolved. Captain Sejwal has expressed confidence that the concerned authorities will look into the entire matter impartially. He has appealed to the media and the general public to rely only on solid and verified facts and avoid spreading one-sided or misleading information, so that no one’s image is harmed.
