‘Ganja found in the bag..’, Air India sent America’s co-pilot back to India

Air India Co Pilot Deport India: A co-pilot of Air India has been deported from America. On April 14, this pilot was going from Delhi to San Francisco. The task was to operate a return flight from there but the American authorities at San Francisco airport refused to grant him entry and sent him back to India.

Ganja formula found in the bag

According to sources, marijuana was found in the pilot’s bag. However, sources also say that the pilot did not consume it. Rather it was kept with him. Possession of ganja is illegal in India. It has limited permission in some states of America but it is completely banned for aircrew in any country.

Air India issued a statement on this matter saying that the airline has a zero tolerance policy towards any violation of law. Strict disciplinary action will be taken as per company policies.

This is not the first time such a case

Controversies related to Air India pilots have come to the fore earlier also. The rules applicable to aircrew are more strict than those applicable to ordinary passengers because their responsibility is related to the safety of hundreds of passengers.

A month ago a flight returned Uturn from Canada

An Air India flight going from Delhi to Canada had to take a U-turn midway and return back to Delhi. The reason was the airline’s own operational lapses which became the cause of trouble for hundreds of passengers and wastage of crores of rupees. The 13 hour flight was wasted. Fuel burned, passengers were stranded and all because a basic permission check was not done before the flight.

On March 19, 2026, Air India flight AI 185 flew from Delhi to Vancouver. The Boeing 777-200 LR aircraft (VT-AEI) was deployed in the flight, which is the last 777-200 LR of Air India.
