With the aim of strengthening the coastal security of the country and instilling a sense of patriotism among the people, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) organized the Vande Mataram Coastal Cyclothon-2026. This is the second edition of this cyclothon, which started on Wednesday (January 28, 2026). Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai flagged off this cycle journey virtually from New Delhi.
This cyclothon will run for 25 days and is being organized to commemorate the completion of 150 years of Vande Mataram. This program will continue till 22nd of next month i.e. 22nd February, 2026. This year the theme of Cyclothon has been kept – ‘Safe Coast, Prosperous India’, the objective of which is to focus on the security of coastal areas as well as the economic and social strength of the country.

On this occasion, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said that CISF has always played an important role in the security of the country, especially in difficult situations. He said that CISF has got the status of recognized security force under the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code. CISF is also playing a big role in port security, maritime trade and strengthening coastal infrastructure.

Nityanand Rai said that through this Cyclothon, CISF wants to connect all the stakeholders related to coastal security and want to make the people living in coastal areas an important part of this campaign. He said that the main objective of this second edition is to promote patriotism, national consciousness and unity, especially on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’.
Two CISF teams taking part in Cyclothon
Two CISF cycling teams are participating in this cyclothon. One team will start its journey from Bakhali in West Bengal from the east coast, while the other team will start its journey from Lakhpat Fort in Gujarat from the west coast. Both the teams will meet in Kochi, Kerala, covering a distance of about 6,500 kilometers.
65 women out of total 148 soldiers included in the campaign
A total of 148 CISF soldiers are taking part in this campaign, which includes 65 women personnel. This cyclothon will not only spread awareness about coastal security but will also give the message of national unity, community participation, fitness and discipline. Especially the youth and people living in coastal areas will be motivated to adopt a healthy lifestyle. This initiative of CISF clearly shows that along with security, uniting the society and strengthening the spirit of patriotism are also among the priorities of the force.
