The act of two youths wearing burqa and sitting in the women’s section for an Instagram video at Korutla bus station in Jagtial district of Telangana created panic. The police arrested both the youth on suspicion of creating disturbance in a public place at around 3:30 pm on Saturday (February 14) and registered a case.
According to the information, 21-year-old Mohammad Numan reached the bus station with his partner Mohammad Aqeel and wore a burqa and scarf to make some funny videos. Numan sat in the seating area designated for women, which raised suspicion among the passengers present there. A constable from the Road Transport Corporation (RTC), who immediately understood the gravity of the situation and informed the police.

Korutla sub-inspector of police Chiranjeevi told ABP News that both the youths had already made four-five similar videos for some time, in which they were trying to make the audience laugh by wearing burqa in an objectionable manner in public places. Numan’s father belongs to the hotel business of Paidimadugu village.
Police have registered a non-serious and bailable offense against both the youth under sections 292 (obscenity) and 290 (public disturbance) of the Indian Penal Code, accusing them of breaching discipline in a public place and violating social decorum. There are separate arrangements for women and men at Korutla Bus Station and priority is given to the privacy and safety of passengers.

This case also points to the growing influence of viral acts on digital media and social platforms, where some youth ignore social norms and laws in their quest to go viral without thinking. Korutla Police has appealed to the people to maintain patience in case of any such untoward incident and immediately inform the authorities, so that any untoward situation can be dealt with.
The police are investigating the matter and trying to find out whether any complaint had been filed earlier regarding such activities and whether those videos have been uploaded online anywhere yet.
