Harassed by filing false case: Priyanka Gandhi

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi, who was on Assam tour, said, ‘Rahul Gandhi has been harassed by filing a false case. We have been enduring all this for many years. The government is targeting those who stand with the truth through ED and CBI. This appearance of Rahul Gandhi took place when he had not appeared in the previous hearing in the MLA-MP court located in Sultanpur on January 19, due to which the court had fixed February 20 as the date of the next hearing.

What is the whole matter?

This defamation case was filed in October 2018 by Vijay Mishra, a local BJP member from Hanumanganj area of Kotwali Dehat in Sultanpur district. Vijay Mishra alleged that during the election campaign in Karnataka in August 2018, Rahul Gandhi had made derogatory remarks about the then BJP President Amit Shah.

The complainant cited Rahul Gandhi’s statement in which he had said that BJP claims to be committed to honesty and clean politics, but it is being led by a party president who is accused in a murder case. Sultanpur court had granted bail to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in this case in February 2024.

Priyanka Gandhi angry at Assam CM

Chairperson of the screening committee for Assam assembly elections and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi fiercely targeted Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He said, ‘We have talked to the people of Assam. The public is seeing how all the wealth of Assam, the wealth of the people of Assam, is being given to big industrialists. The people here know this.

On the statement of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, he said, ‘At the time of elections, there are two types of leaders, one who tells what they want to do for the public. Secondly, create polarization, make people fight with each other, attack someone’s family, this has never been our politics and will never be. The way Gaurav Gogoi and his family are being targeted, I think this should be an example that such politics is wrong.
