Team India Playing 11 Players: The Super-8 stage of the 2026 T20 World Cup is starting from 21st February. All the 8 teams going to the next stage have been divided into 2 groups of four each. If we look at Team India, it had topped the group stage by winning all four of its matches. Team India is obviously doing well under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, but associate teams like USA and Netherlands left no stone unturned in exposing Indian bowling.
If we assess the group stage, everyone from Ishan Kishan to Varun Chakraborty and captain Suryakumar Yadav have also performed well. But some players have not been able to live up to the expectations. Know here which 3 players can be out of Super-8 on the basis of performance.
These 3 players may be dropped
Abhishek Sharma
In the year 2025, Abhishek Sharma had scored 859 runs. How can it suddenly happen that the same batsman could not even open his account in the first 3 innings of T20 World Cup 2026. Abhishek Sharma has scored a hat-trick of getting out at 0 in the World Cup. The challenge of Super-8 will be much tougher than the group stage. Before Abhishek’s poor form comes in the way of Team India’s hopes of winning the World Cup, it is possible that he may be dropped from the playing eleven.
Rinku Singh
Rinku Singh played all four matches in the group stage. In the match against USA, he was able to score only 6 runs in 14 balls. After that he has faced 6, 4 and 4 balls in three innings. Mostly he has got the responsibility of number 7, but with the arrival of Washington Sundar, Rinku’s card may be cut from the playing eleven. Rinku has not got to play much ball, hence has not been able to leave much impact. But Washington Sundar can also play a similar role in batting, whose arrival also opens up an option for bowling.
Arshdeep Singh
Whether Arshdeep Singh plays or plays again may depend on the condition of the pitch. In the match against Pakistan in Sri Lanka, Team India had kept Arshdeep out and played an additional spinner Kuldeep Yadav. It is clear from the matches played so far that Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya are playing the role of 2 main pacers. India’s first Super 8 match will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, but the second will be played in Chennai, where the spinners get help. It would not be surprising if the Indian team management sidelines Arshdeep to field an additional spinner.
