The political atmosphere here became tense in Sarupathar assembly area. Congress workers have expressed protest against the decision of the party alliance. Actually, the whole matter is about seat distribution. Here, on the basis of alliance, Congress has given Sarupathar seat to Assam Jatiya Parishad. There has been resentment among the local level workers here due to this step.

The atmosphere near Golghat District Congress Office became heated when workers gathered in large numbers in Sarupathar to protest. During this, the workers expressed their opposition to the case MP Gaurav Gogoi and held him responsible for this decision. Activists have termed this decision as one-sided.

The protesting workers say that the party leadership did not consult local officials before giving seats to AJP. The morale of Congress workers has been broken by this decision. These include those workers who have been working for the party at the grassroots level for years.

Party accused of ignoring grassroots workers

Activists say that if such decisions are taken without consulting the grassroots workers, then how will we be able to work? We cannot accept this decision. He also accused the party leadership of ignoring his views. Apart from this, the activists have warned that if the decision is not reconsidered then they will take a big step like shaving their heads in public.

Just before the elections, internal strife has come to the fore in the Congress. There has been an official agreement between Congress and APJ regarding elections. In this, the seat has been given to AJP under the seat sharing formula. Gogoi flagged off the Parivartan Yatra on Wednesday itself.
