‘When I said that I am resigning…’, Jagdeep Dhankhar said for the first time after leaving the post of Vice President

Jagdeep Dhankhar has given a statement for the first time after leaving the post of Vice President. He said, I have never been careless towards my health. When I said that I was resigning, I never said that I was ill.

Jagdeep Dhankhar said, ‘I have never been careless towards my health. When I said that I was resigning, I never said that I was ill. I said that I am giving importance to health, which should be given. It is written in our scriptures.

Resigned in July 2025

On July 21, 2025, Jagdeep Dhankhar surprised everyone by resigning from the post of Vice President citing health reasons. He had submitted his resignation letter to President Draupadi Murmu a day before the start of the monsoon session. There was a lot of discussion in political circles regarding Dhankhar’s sudden resignation. Opposition parties had also raised questions regarding this and claimed that the matter was something else.

Took up the post in 2022

Dhankhar took over as Vice President in August 2022. His tenure was till 2027 but before that he suddenly left the post. Questions were also raised about his resignation because just 12 days before leaving his post on July 21, 2025, he had said in a program at JNU University in Delhi, ‘I will retire at the right time, in 2027, if God wishes!’

Political journey of Jagdeep Dhankhar

Jagdeep Dhankar is a resident of Kithana village in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. Received primary education from Army School, Chittorgarh. After this he completed his higher education from Rajasthan University. He was a lawyer in Rajasthan High Court and Supreme Court. He started politics from Congress. Was an MP in PV Narasimha Rao government. After this he joined BJP. He became a Union Minister in the Chandrashekhar government. In the year 2029, he was appointed the Governor of West Bengal. In 2022, he was elected to the post of Vice President.
