Will Israel provide jobs to 10 thousand Indians every year? Decision in the meeting of PM Modi and Netanyahu

India and Israel on Thursday (February 26) agreed that up to 50,000 additional Indian workers can go to Israel for jobs in the next five years. This decision has been taken in the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This means that on an average, Israel will provide job opportunities to about 10 thousand more Indians every year.

Both the Prime Ministers acknowledged the contribution of Indian workers in Israel, who through their work are making an important contribution in enhancing the friendship between the two countries. India and Israel acknowledged the importance of the Framework Agreement and Implementation Protocol signed in November 2023 to facilitate safe movement of Indian workers in the construction and care sectors.

How many Indians are currently working in Israel?
According to The Economic Times report, both leaders welcomed the signing of agreements related to the construction and care sectors. According to a joint statement issued after the meeting, the two leaders also welcomed the signing of agreements related to commerce and services, manufacturing and restaurant sectors.

More than 20,000 Indian nationals are employed in Israel by August 2025, many of whom are coming to fill the shortage of workers in the construction and care sectors. During his visit to Israel, PM Modi also met the Indian diaspora before his departure.

Indian workers will also get opportunities in data science and AI
Both Prime Ministers stressed the need to ensure the safety, security and legal rights of workers. He also stressed the importance of expanding opportunities for Indian professionals in high-skilled areas such as data science, AI and high-tech. Both the leaders reviewed the working of the Joint Coordination Committee and directed the JCC to hold regular meetings to discuss the pending issues related to workers and resolve them at the earliest.
