‘They better not do that’: Trump warns Iran as Tehran strikes US bases, says ‘will hit with force never seen before…’

US President Donald Trump has just issued a new statement on his Truth Social media app, warning Iran against hitting back. “Iran just stated that they are going to hit very hard today, harder than they have ever been hit before,” the US president wrote.

“They better not do that, however, because if they do, we will hit them with a force that has never been seen before!”

This comes after Iran’s IRGC said it is carrying out a sixth wave of attacks in retaliation for the US and Israeli bombardment of Iran, according to Iranian state media.

It said it has launched “extensive missile and drone” attacks on Israel and US military bases in the region. It said 27 US bases, as well as the Israeli Tel Nof airbase, the Israeli army’s command headquarters at HaKirya in Tel Aviv, and a large defense industrial complex in the same city, were attacked.

It added that Iranian forces will “implement a different and harsh step of revenge, with successive, regrettable slaps”.

Iran attacked, Khamenei killed

Iranian state news agencies have confirmed the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, hailing him as a “martyr”.

Iran has also confirmed the killing of Ali Shamkani, a top political adviser to Khamenei and the secretary of Iran’s Defense Council as well as Mohammad Pakpour, commander-in-chief of the IRGC.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has denounced Khamenei’s killing “as a great crime” and promised to respond, according to a statement from his office.

Iraq’s Muqtada al-Sadr has expressed his “sadness and sorrow” following the death of Khamenei and declared three days of public mourning in Iraq.

The US and Israel’s killing of Khamenei has triggered protests in Iraq’s capital, Baghdad, with demonstrators confronting security forces in the city’s Green Zone – the heavily-fortified area serving as the seat of the Iraqi government, parliament and foreign embassies.

The IRGC says it is carrying out a sixth wave of attacks targeting 27 US bases in retaliation for the US and Israeli bombardment of Iran, according to Iranian state media.

The Qatari Ministry of Interior says eight additional injuries have been recorded following the Iranian strikes, bringing the total number of injuries since the onset of the attack to 16.
