Russian President Vladimir Putin’s first reaction has emerged on the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the attack by Israel and America. He has expressed grief over Khamenei’s death. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed deep condolences to Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian over the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and his family members.
Putin furious over Khamenei’s death
Putin said that this murder was carried out in blatant disregard of human morality and international law. He said that Khamenei will be remembered in Russia as an outstanding statesman who made a significant contribution to strengthening friendly relations between Russia and Iran. Along with this, Putin has also asked Pejeshkian to express his heartfelt sympathy and support to Khamenei’s relatives and loved ones, as well as to the government and people of Iran.
Iran US-Israel vow revenge
After the death of Supreme Leader Khamenei, Iran has vowed to take revenge from America and Israel. Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, one of the most powerful people in Iran, talked about stabbing a knife in the heart of America. He promised further retaliation against America and Israel, saying, ‘Our military’s reaction will be even stronger. They should know that they cannot just attack and run away.
The Russian Foreign Ministry advised America and Israel to stop the attacks and adopt the path of dialogue, calling it an unprovoked action. Russia said that the situation should be brought back on the path of political and diplomatic solution. Russia has recommended the international community to objectively assess these incidents.
Iranian Defense Minister and many top officials died
After the attack on Iran, US President Donald Trump released a video message on Truth and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu released a video message on X. In this, both of them showed solidarity with the people of Iran and claimed that they had carried out a ‘preventive attack’ to save the world from the threat of terrorism.
Iran’s state media on Saturday (28 February 2026) confirmed the killing of both Iran’s Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh and the Chief of Staff of its Armed Forces in American and Israeli strikes. Earlier, Iran had confirmed the death of IRGC leader Major General Mohammad Pakpur and Defense Council Secretary Ali Shamkhani.
