Abu Dhabi: BAPS Hindu temple will remain closed till March 9 amid Iranian attack, inaugurated by PM Modi 2 years ago

In view of the war situation in the Middle East, the BAPS Temple in Abu Dhabi will remain closed for visitors from Monday to March 9. BAPS Hindu Temple issued a statement saying, ‘In view of the current situation and national security, as a precautionary measure, BAPS Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi will remain closed for visitors till Monday, March 9. During this time, Swami will continue to pray in the temple for everyone’s peace, safety and well-being.

Iran is targeting US military bases in Gulf countries

Due to increasing tension between Iran and America, there have been attacks on Abu Dhabi and Dubai airports. After Khamenei’s death, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard is targeting American military bases located in Gulf countries. Gulf countries have closed their air space due to continuous attacks. Arab countries including UAE and Saudi Arabia have said that they will retaliate against the attack by Iran.

Iran is firing missiles at UAE

According to the information given by the United Arab Emirates, an Indian citizen is also among the 58 people who were slightly injured in the Iranian military attacks. The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi said on Sunday (1 March 2026) that it is aware of the injury to the Indian citizen and is in touch with the hospital authorities. The UAE Defense Ministry said that since the beginning of the attack by Iran, its army has faced 165 ballistic missiles, two cruise missiles and 541 drone attacks.

Earlier PM Modi had inaugurated it two years ago

BAPS Hindu Temple located in Abu Dhabi is built on 27 acres (11 hectares) of land. Its construction was announced during PM Modi’s visit to UAE in 2018. Its Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the BAPS Hindu Temple on February 14, 2024.
