Yogi Government: Is the public mood changing in the politics of Uttar Pradesh? The results of the state’s biggest survey conducted by Dainik Bhaskar are indicating something similar. According to the survey, the public does not want to see 33 out of 40 ministers of Uttar Pradesh government as MLAs again. The surprising thing is that there are only 3 ministers to whom the public has said ‘yes’ to fielding them again, whereas the public could not reach a clear opinion on the 3 other ministers.
Behavior and work become the weakness of ministers.
In the survey, the public not only expressed their preferences but also listed concrete reasons for their dislike. 4 ministers have been completely rejected by the public due to their bad behaviour. These include:
- Surya Pratap Shahi (Agriculture Minister)
- Somendra Tomar (Minister of State with Independent Charge)
- Manohar Lal ‘Mannu Kori’ (Minister of State)
- Dinesh Khatik (Minister of State)
There are a total of 54 ministers in the Yogi cabinet, out of which 14 are MLCs. Out of the remaining 40 MLA ministers, the public is not happy with the work and face of 12 cabinet ministers, 8 independent charge and 13 state ministers.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s popularity remains intact
On one hand, there is resentment against the ministers, on the other hand, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath remains the undisputed most popular leader in his seat. 89% of the people surveyed on Gorakhpur city seat supported making him MLA again. Also, the people of Gorakhpur have declared Bharatiya Janata Party as their first choice.
These are those 3 ministers with whom the public is happy
According to the survey, the report card of only three cabinet ministers has been better:
- Nitin Agarwal (Hardoi): The public has expressed confidence in Nitin Agarwal, the independent charge minister of the Excise Department and son of powerful leader Naresh Agarwal.
- Rakesh Nishad (Tindwari): The work of Minister of State for Jal Shakti and first-time MLA Rakesh Nishad has been appreciated by the public.
- Satish Chandra Sharma (Daryabad): Food and Civil Supplies Minister Satish Chandra Sharma has also been successful in maintaining his popularity.
Threat of ‘bicycle’ on the seats of 9 ministers including Deputy CM
One of the most surprising results of the survey is that Samajwadi Party (SP), not BJP, has emerged as the first choice of the public on the seats of 9 ministers including Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak. These include big names like Anil Rajbhar (Shivpur), Om Prakash Rajbhar (Zahoorabad), and Jaiveer Singh (Mainpuri). Apart from this, SP has also gained lead on the seats of Dharampal Singh, Rakesh Sachan, Sandeep Singh, Ravindra Jaiswal and Suresh Rahi.
Dislike faces, but as a party BJP is first choice
Even though the public is rejecting the faces of the ministers, the base of BJP as a party is still strong. According to the survey, even today BJP is the first choice of the public on 29 ministerial seats. It includes seats of 6 cabinet ministers (like Suresh Khanna, Lakshmi Narayan, Babyrani Maurya) and 7 independent charge ministers.
The public clearly says that they are with the party, but the present ministers have not brought development in their area, hence they want to change the face.
Women ministers also got a shock
The public has refused to make all the 5 women MLA ministers of Yogi cabinet, Babyrani Maurya, Gulab Devi, Pratibha Shukla, Rajni Tiwari and Vijay Lakshmi Gautam as candidates again. However, it is a matter of relief that the public has declared BJP as the first choice for the seats of these five women ministers. The only minister of alliance partner RLD, Anil Kumar (Purkaji seat) has also been rejected by the public. However, the people on his seat have given priority to RLD party rather than face.
