West Indies Captain Shai Hope: The final match of Super-8 in T20 World Cup 2026 was played last Sunday (01 March) between India and West Indies at Eden Gardens. It was a virtual quarter-final, in which Team India, captained by Suryakumar Yadav, won and made it to the semi-finals. After the defeat in the match, West Indies captain Shai Hope looked shaken. He did not answer the journalist directly.
Let us tell you that Hope had scored 32 runs in 33 balls while playing a very slow innings. The Caribbean captain was made his victim by Indian spinner Varun Chakraborty. Hope was repeatedly asked questions about his slowness, on which he got angry.

In the press conference after the match, Hope first admitted that his innings was slow. He should have played a little faster. But when Hope was again asked about his slow innings, he did not answer properly.
The West Indies captain said, “You guys are making me laugh. If you want to hear that I take responsibility, then fine I take responsibility. I should have played faster. But it is difficult for every player in times of struggle. I was hitting the ball near the fielders, but I did not feel that I was batting badly. I was trying to play according to the conditions.
West Indies lost the match after making a big total
The West Indies team, which came to bat first in the match, scored 195/5 runs on the board in 20 overs. Roston Chase played the biggest innings for the team and scored 40 runs in 25 balls. Then Team India came out for run chase and won by 5 wickets in 19.2 overs. Sanju Samson played the biggest innings for the team and scored 97* runs in 50 balls.
