Tamil Nadu News: A heart-wrenching violent incident took place last night in Nanguneri area of Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu, in which two people died and many others were seriously injured. This incident took place in front of a tea shop in Perumpattu village located on the road from Nanguneri to Kalakkad.
According to the information, last night some people were sitting and talking in front of a tea shop running in this village. Then suddenly a gang of 9 people armed with swords, knives and other dangerous weapons on 3 two-wheelers appeared in front of the tea shop. He threw the petrol bombs he had brought with him in front of the tea shop.
Shocked by this, the people present there ran away to save their lives. But the gang continued to chase and attack indiscriminately with their weapons. In this, a laborer from a northern state and two people named John Mark died on the spot. Nelson, Prabhakaran and Ramasamy of Perumpattu, Ganesh of Veerangulam and Saskiyammar of Puliangulam were injured.
Angry people blocked the highway
Apart from this, 5 people were injured. Hearing their screams, nearby people saved 5 people and took them to the hospital. As soon as information about this incident was received, the police immediately reached the spot. There the bodies of the dead were taken into custody and sent for post-mortem. After this he interrogated the local people. But the local people blocked the road protesting against the double murder.
During this, the police also pelted stones at the vehicle due to which it got damaged. To avoid a tense situation after this incident, a large number of police forces have been deployed under the leadership of Tirunelveli District Superintendent of Police Prasanna Kumar. Apart from this, it has also been told that special teams have been formed to arrest the criminals involved in this attack.
The area has been a victim of caste based attacks
Such attacks happen frequently in the southern districts. Nanguneri area of Tirunelveli district in particular has been a victim of caste-based attacks for the last few years. With Tamil Nadu assembly elections approaching in 2026, this attack raises many questions related to law and order.
The police are investigating this heinous attack from the angle of whether the murder of 2 people and injury to 4 people was based on caste or due to some other incident. The injured told that the criminals were wearing masks. Therefore, the police is examining the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area.
