A car suddenly caught fire on the 65th National Highway near Nandi Kandi village in Sadasivapet mandal of Sangareddy district of Telangana. The driver immediately sensing the situation moved the vehicle to the side.
Due to this, other vehicles moving on the road were saved from collision and a major accident was averted. No one was injured in the incident but the car was completely burnt to ashes due to the fire. The local people immediately tried to extinguish the fire and informed the police.
What information did the police give related to the incident?
When the police reached the spot, the engine and battery parts of the car were on fire. Sub-Inspector of Sadashivpet Police Station said that in the preliminary investigation there is a possibility of electrical short circuit or engine overheating. The statement of the driver has been recorded.
He said that the car was moving at normal speed when suddenly smoke started coming out from the dashboard. He immediately applied brakes and parked the car on the roadside. The police have recorded the name and vehicle number of the car owner.
Traffic diverted from the highway
The police diverted the traffic from both sides at the spot and called a crane to remove the burnt car. Forensic team has also been called which will find out the real cause of the fire. Sadashivpet Police has taken cognizance under Section 281 of the Indian Judicial Code and started further investigation. The officer said that such accidents happen frequently on NH-65, hence we have appealed to the drivers to be alert.
Police searched CCTV of surrounding areas
Nandi Kandi area is the main route for vehicles going from Hyderabad to Solapur. The traffic is always heavy here. In the last few months, many small and big accidents have taken place on this highway. Local people say that long distance trains move at high speed at night, which increases the risk of overheating. This time the driver’s wisdom saved many lives.
The police have also examined the surrounding CCTV footage to uncover any other reason. Interrogation of the car owner is going on. If any technical flaw is found then action can also be taken against the vehicle servicing agency. At present the driver is safe and the family has been informed.
