The investigation of the brutality against a 4 year old innocent girl in Ghaziabad was handed over to 3 women IPS officers, the Supreme Court ordered the formation of SIT.

The Supreme Court has asked to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the case of rape and murder of a 4-year-old girl in Ghaziabad. The court has asked the DGP of Uttar Pradesh to form a SIT of three women IPS officers. SIT should give report in 2 weeks. The trial court should postpone its proceedings till its report comes.

The incident is of 16 March. The accused had taken the girl by coaxing her. Later she was found badly injured in the bushes 500 meters away from the house. After not getting admission in 2 hospitals, he was taken to the district hospital, where he was declared dead. The girl’s father has reached the Supreme Court complaining about the negligent attitude of the police in investigating the incident. In the earlier hearing, the court had personally summoned the Police Commissioner and the SHO.

On Friday, April 24, the Ghaziabad Police informed that after completing the investigation of the case, a charge sheet has been filed, but the victim’s father accused the police of pressurizing him to give the desired statement. After this, a bench of three judges headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant asked to form a SIT of three women IPS officers under the leadership of an IG rank woman officer.

In the petition, two private hospitals have also been accused of refusing to admit the girl and treat her. The Supreme Court ordered investigation into this aspect also. The court said that SIT should be formed by 11 am on Saturday. The SIT should consider and investigate all the concerns raised by the petitioner. He should submit his supplementary report to the trial court within 2 weeks. Till then the proceedings of the case remained stalled.

Keep in mind that initially the police had only registered an FIR for murder. However, later he also added rape in the FIR. The accused was arrested the next day of the incident. In her statement to the police, she has admitted to rape and murder but the victim’s family is dissatisfied with the attitude of the police. He is also accused of protecting the hospitals which did not treat the girl.
