‘The path of dialogue is closed because of America, war has been imposed on us’, Iran claims

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghai has claimed that diplomatic routes have been closed because of America and Tehran is not responsible for this. He expressed his views before the media regarding ‘imposed war’, ‘relations with neighbours’ and ‘security of embassies’.

In the weekly media briefing, he said that while Iran was continuing diplomatic dialogue, it was attacked. Now the people of Iran are united and protecting their country. The attacks by America and Israel have violated international laws. According to him, international rules and order have been damaged by these attacks.

Baghai also held European countries responsible for this. He said, ‘Unfortunately the countries of Europe have helped in creating this situation. Instead of insisting on the rule of law, rather than confronting US bullying and excesses, he talked about and agreed to a discussion on reimposing sanctions in the UN Security Council. All these things together gave courage to Americans and Israelis.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai claimed that Iran wants to maintain good and friendly relations with the countries of the region. It is Iran’s clear policy to maintain relations of cooperation and friendship with neighboring and regional countries. If any country’s land is used to attack Iran, then Iran has every right to defend itself. The defensive action taken by Iran should not be seen as hostility against these countries.

Ismail Baghai described the security of foreign embassies as his responsibility. He said that the government is making every effort to ensure the security of all foreign embassies and diplomatic missions present in the country. Diplomatic missions of more than 100 countries are still present in Iran and necessary arrangements have been made for their security.

Baghai said that the government is working to provide necessary security and protection to these embassies and their staff. Along with this he claimed that this war is being fought due to compulsion. There is no question of Iran’s choice in this. Baghai said, ‘Iran is fighting the war out of compulsion, it is not its choice. This war has been forcibly imposed on the country.

During a press briefing in Tehran, when he was asked about the possibility of mediation for ceasefire, he said that ‘it would be wrong to talk like this at the moment. At present the military conflict is going on and in such a situation it is not right to discuss any topic other than the defense of the country.

At the same time, Iran denied any attack on Türkiye, Cyprus and Azerbaijan. He said that no attack was launched from Iranian soil in the direction of these countries last week. Iran has already warned that enemy countries can stage such attacks so as to create differences between Iran and other countries.
