The Lok Sabha on Wednesday (11 March 2026) rejected by voice vote the proposal brought to remove Speaker Om Birla from the post. Responding to the discussion on the opposition’s resolution in the House, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that no one has the right to speak contrary to the rules. He alleged that when the time comes to speak in the House, the opposition leaders roam abroad. On this, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut said that Congress always makes allegations, but when the turn came to hear the truth, they started creating ruckus.
Kangana Ranaut’s taunt on Amit Shah
He said, ‘Congress did not allow Home Minister Amit Shah to speak in the House. The country saw how opposition leader Rahul Gandhi does not come to Parliament, lives abroad and does not talk according to the rules. The Home Minister has washed them thoroughly today.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, ‘The allegation of the opposition leader that he is not allowed to speak is not true. The Leader of the Opposition’s party brought a motion against the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, but he did not speak on that too. He doesn’t want to speak. If you want to speak, you don’t know how to speak as per the rules. This is not a meeting (rally), speaking here has to be done as per rules.
Amit Shah lashed out at Congress in Parliament
Home Minister Amit Shah said that in the first phase of the budget session, such an atmosphere was created in the chamber of the Lok Sabha Speaker that there was concern for the Speaker’s safety. He said that this very House has made the rules for how the Lok Sabha is to be run and no one has the right to speak according to what the rules of the House do not permit. Taking aim at the Congress MPs, he said, ‘When you ignore the rules of functioning of the House, it is the responsibility of the Speaker to stop, interrupt and throw out such a member.’
