A grand mega veterans rally was organized at Likabali on Sunday (April 26, 2026) under the aegis of Spear Corps, the spearhead division of the Indian Army, with the aim of solving the problems and welfare of ex-servicemen and their families. More than 1,500 ex-servicemen, brave women, serving soldiers, families and dependents of martyrs participated in the rally organized in collaboration with the state and district administrations of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
This rally was not just a formal event, but emerged as an important platform to further strengthen the relationship of the Army with the ex-servicemen community, listen to their problems directly and provide solutions.
What was the main objective of the rally?
The main objective of the rally was to resolve discrepancies in pension distribution, land and legal disputes, document related issues and other welfare issues. On this occasion, various departments and agencies organized camps and provided on-the-spot assistance to the ex-servicemen.

The Governor called the rally ‘Army Aapke Dwar’
Governor of Arunachal Pradesh. T. Parnaik was present as the chief guest. In his address, he said that such ex-servicemen conferences are an important medium to maintain contact between the army and the veteran community. Calling it “Army at your doorstep”, he said that the aim of this initiative is to provide all the necessary services and facilities on a single platform, so that the ex-servicemen do not have to visit different offices.
He said that it is the responsibility of the nation to take care of the soldiers and their families who serve the country in difficult conditions. He also stressed on rehabilitation of ex-servicemen, employment opportunities in the second innings and re-engaging them in nation building by coordinating with state governments.
Army has become highly technical now: Governor
In her address, Governor KT Parnaik also discussed in detail the changing standards of recruitment in the army. He said that the Army has now become highly technical and minimum 10+2 education has become necessary to handle modern weapon systems and equipment. He appealed to the society, parents and governments to ensure the education of the youth, so that they are not deprived of future opportunities.
Various departments cooperated in the rally
Representatives of Rajya Sainik Board Itanagar, District Sainik Welfare Office Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur, PCDA Guwahati, ECHS, record offices, various government agencies and banks participated in the rally and cooperated in solving the problems related to pension, medical, banking and documents.
Ex-servicemen were also given information about rehabilitation schemes, second shift employment and redeployment opportunities through the Army Welfare Placement Organisation. Apart from this, keeping in mind the health facilities, a comprehensive medical camp was also organized, where arrangements were made for health check-up and counseling of the present ex-servicemen and their dependents.
Families of the heroes were honored in the ceremony
During the programme, brave women, brave mothers, brave daughters, special children and distinguished ex-servicemen achievers were honoured. This ceremony emerged as an emotional and inspirational aspect of the event. A patriotic cultural program was also presented by the students and NCC cadets of Sainik School Raksin in the program, which infused enthusiasm and energy into the event.
This rally proved to be an effective platform to address the regular challenges faced by ex-servicemen and brave women. It also reiterated the commitment of the army and civil administration under which the respect, welfare and empowerment of ex-servicemen is being given top priority. This mega veterans rally organized at Likabali stood out as an example of the humane and dedicated approach of the Indian Army, in which the connection with the soldiers and their families even after completion of service is given as much importance as while in uniform.
