WhatsApp Feature: Now accounts of small children can also be created on WhatsApp. The messaging platform has announced that it is introducing new parent-managed accounts for children under 13 years of age, which will focus only on calling and messaging. These accounts have been designed in such a way that parents have complete control over children’s communication. This new feature will be rolled out in the next few months.
How will children’s accounts work?
New default settings and parental controls will be available in the new parent-managed version of WhatsApp. Through these accounts, parents will be able to manage who is contacting their children and in which groups they are being added. Besides, parents will also be able to manage the privacy settings of these accounts. However, all personal conversations will remain private and end-to-end encrypted like a normal account. Features like Meta AI, Channel and Status and View Once in one-to-one conversations will not be available in these accounts.
Children’s account will be linked to parents’ device
According to reports, to set up these accounts, parents will have to keep their and their children’s devices nearby. The accounts of both will be linked through a QR code. Once setup, parents will also be able to review message requests from unknown contacts.
WhatsApp is also working on paid subscription
Paid subscription plan WhatsApp Plus is going to come soon on WhatsApp. In this, the company can add many new features including exclusive stickers, themes, new app icon and new chat interface. Currently this feature is being tested and it will be rolled out for both Android and iPhone users. Even after the introduction of paid subscription, features like calling, messaging and file sharing will remain free as before.
